My name is Chris Allison. I am currently an Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC) in Alabama under the supervision of Jay Byham. I received my MS degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2021.
I had the opportunity to serve as a missionary in Cambodia from 2009-2019. I moved back to the States in 2019 and began working at a teen treatment center with kids ages 11-18 with mental health, substance abuse, and behavioral problems. I currently have the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
I use a variety of methods in my counseling, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy to be better able to meet each person’s individual needs. I do have a strong interest in working with men and boys to help reduce a stigma often associated with the benefits of counseling. I believe strongly in the value of a healthy professional connection with my clients as an important means of effecting change in their lives. I believe my clients must trust me in order to develop a mindset of being a team developing goals and objectives that you want to achieve. I believe every person is important and has value and look forward to every opportunity given me to help people during difficult life circumstances.
