Are you weighed down by the cares of this world, personal struggles, or family issues? What are you feeding your mind, heart, and spirit? Do you want to build confidence and be a better, bigger person? We have to take action to grow and change. Sharing with others and helping them adds value to our lives and the lives of others. We have to spend time with secure, safe people on this journey through life that helps us to achieve our purpose.
As a therapist, I believe there are roots to the behaviors that people exhibit. Once you help them discover and understand those roots, they can then begin the process of healing, allowing the past to dictate their future—“out of the heart flow the issues of life.” I believe in meeting people where they are on life’s journey, not judging but walking with you in the growing process. I love the Lord and the opportunities He has given me in life and the importance of extending that compassion to others. I believe in keeping it REAL.
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who has experience as an EAP (Employee Assistance Provider) with several local businesses in the area to provide services for their employees and family members to improve work relations, provide trainings, do onsite counseling, and assist with crises. I also have experience in Marketing and Community Relations, establishing connections with businesses and other community leaders to improve services, connect people to resources, and enhance communication within the area. I have been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years, with 20 years being in mental health. My initial counseling work was volunteering for several years with my church after completing certification through the American Association of Christian Counselors. I returned to college @ Oakwood University to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, then attended Alabama A&M University and completed my Master’s Degree in Social Work to fulfill a calling and passion I have to help others “experience life at the highest level.”
Along my journey in counseling, I have worked with individuals, clients in recovery, teenagers, couples, families, nursing home residents, inpatient and outpatient mental health, Christian counseling, and those making life transitions. I am a professional who is very down-to-earth and enjoys working with people. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, Person Centered approaches, and others based on the individual needs. I believe in educating my clients about how mind, spirit, and body are connected.
I enjoy spending time with my husband & family, living in the country, being outside, traveling, serving at my church and in the community.
